Janahita Foundation

Our Activities

Janahita Foundation was registered at Hyderabad on 5 May 2010.

The activities of Janahita Foundation weave around the education of poor boys and girls. It helps them in breaking their chains of poverty and ignorance and in enabling them to complete their educational endeavour and become true citizens of our Society.

Study Center in Venkatagiri
Janahita was inaugurated on 4 July 2010 at the confluence of four hamlets in Venkatagiri Town of Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, by the then District Collector. Bandupalem, Aravapalem, Nagulakunta and Maratipalem are the hamlets, in which around 1000 families live in traditional poverty and illiteracy. We started a study Centre there to supplement the children’s efforts in getting educated.

Janahita maintained this study centre with 70 students attending every day to improve their learning skills. Part time tutors teach them mathematics and English and help them with homework. 10th Standard students are sent for tuitions to specialist tutorial centres.

Personal Hygiene and School kits containing soaps, tooth paste, note books, slates, school bags, foot wear and a pair of dresses for each student are distributed by the centre.

The activities at the centre have slowed down due to the effects of the Covid pandemic.

Govt Junior College in Hyderabad
In 2011, the Foundation made New Govt Junior College for Girls, Malakpet, Hyderabad as the centre of its local activities. Note books and pens needed for the students for one year were distributed, Fee concessions were sanctioned, examination fees were paid, text books provided to the needy. Mid-day meal programme was implemented supporting about 50 poor students. About 11 students who have completed their Intermediate from this college were supported to pursue their Graduation. This Junior College was supported till 2015 once Janahita Foundation's support for the college was replaced by the Naandi Foundation.

MP High School, Hyderabad
From 2019 till 2023, the Foundation was involved with the Mandala Parishad High School in Kokapet. The ask from the school was to provide them with funding for a teacher. With the contributions of residents of Rajapushpa Atria, a gated community in Kokapet Hyderabad, the Foundation was able to support the needs of the school. The support continued even after the contribution from the residents of Rajapushpa Atria dwindled.

Supporting Organizations
In pursuit of its objects, Janahita Foundation has helped the Orphanage run by Centre for Social Service at SBH Colony, Munaganur, Hayath Nagar Mandal, Hyderabad. 80 girls are nurtured by the centre. In the first instalment, the Foundation has provided them with Rs 1,00,000.
